Impact on the Organization
Preventative maintenance isn’t just necessary – it’s cost-effective, time-saving, and can even make the difference in keeping a company competitive. Preventative maintenance can decrease an organization’s operating expenses by keeping machines running well, identifying and resolving problems when they are still small, and encouraging employees to take responsibility for the operations of their equipment.
Learning Objectives
- Discuss how effective Preventative Maintenance (PM) can help your company gain an advantage over its competitors
- Learn how to partner with Maintenance on Preventative Maintenance
- Improve communication between Maintenance specialists and operators
- Master a proven process for Preventative Maintenance
- Become familiar with a PM Checklist and Troubleshooting Guide
In this module, participants will learn the importance and key techniques of preventative maintenance (PM). Presenters begin by answering common questions such as: Is PM really necessary? Isn’t it easier to just run a machine until something breaks, and then fix it? Do we really have time to shut down for preventative maintenance? Participants will learn which areas of preventative maintenance are the operator’s responsibility, and which areas maintenance specialists are responsible for. They will walk through a PM case study, and learn how to organize PM into manageable pieces. They will develop a PM schedule for the machines they work on, and learn how to do PM even when they “don’t have time.” Finally, participants will walk through an example of problem troubleshooting.
